Dealing with bed bugs in commercial properties can be difficult. However you can be proactive instead of reactive to bed bugs.
Bed bugs are hitchhikers. For buildings like hotels, care homes, hospitals and universities it is impossible to control what bugs come in and out of the building.
- Being proactive
The best thing to do is to train your staff in what to look for when changing the bed sheets. The easiest thing to look for is blood stains on the sheets although these won’t always be from bed bugs and there could be bed bugs present without these stains.
- Regular checks
I would recommend taking the mattress of the frame and turning the frame over every 3 months, this will give you the best access to look for evidence. It also doesn’t allow an infestation to get too heavy before it is found. Below are photos of the evidence to look for.
- Tip’s for Staff
To prevent staff fro taking home a bed bug infestation in a commercial property it is best for bags to be placed in plastic boxes with lids and items needed such as phones and laptops to be taken out. This prevents bugs crawling into belongings and the staff taking them home.
